Lauren Finally Walks on the Beach

Like every mum we all have proud moments with our kids, 1st tooth, 1st word, 1st day at nursery the list is endless.  No matter what our kids do every mum/dad/carer will be proud and today was just one of them.  Lauren was born at 31 weeks weighing 3lb, she has since been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Fetal Anticonvulsant Syndrome (FACS) today (aged 9 ) she finally walked on her own on the beach with no frame, no wheelchair and no one holding her hand…. totally independant.  It was fabulous watching her.  Every time we go to the beach it is always tricky.  She has to be carried from the car to where we pitch down.  Her frame obviously wont wheel in the sand and she has never been steady enough to hold her balance.  Since her operation  Lauren is in her splints 23 hours a day, she hates wearing them, especially when they become itchy.  But watching her today so confident, smiling is what having the operation, botox, daily physio, tears from Lauren and myself has been about…… to try and walk independantly.  A very proud mum and dad moment today ::))
